Spring Beauty Buzz

We understand the importance of looking and feeling your best…from head to toe. We’ve also come to the realization that your killer pencil skirt and ruffled blouse is only a fraction of the equation. We’ve kept a close focus on the outfit, but what about the hair? nailpolish? lipstick? All three play a vital role in completing your look, along with the outfit.  We know that with the addition of our favorite beauty trends, you’ll get that “pulled together” look you’ve been waiting for. So on to the good stuff…

Spring 2009 makeup looks say goodbye to all around glamour and focus on sultry, smokey eyes, romantic pastels, and flawless foundation.

Eyes

Say goodbye to thick, heavy eyebrows and harsh liquid liner. For spring 2009, eye makeup is all about definition and softness with a touch of fantasy. Christian Dior, Jill Stuart, and NARS are all releasing softer, pastel collections for the eyes, and nearly every makeup line, including Vincent Longo, has been promoting a violet eyeliners to create a soft, smokey eye that compliments every skin tone.

Face

Beautiful skin is always in style, but Spring 2009 is all about making skin look like it has barely been touched, so as to emphasize beautiful eye makeup or strong lip makeup. Skin for Spring 2009 looks hydrated and as if it is glowing from within. Illuminating powder, such Radiance from Mineralogie, is used to highlight under the eye (also helping to reduce the visibility of dark under eye circles) and along the neck line and shoulders.

Lips

Lipstick is back in a big way for Spring 2009. The nude and pale lip color of the 1960s is the inspiration for lipsticks from Christian Dior and Chanel, along with rich berry hues that provide a sheer wash of color. Have a color from Fall 2008 you love? Mix it with a clear lip balm to lighten the texture and continue wearing it into Spring. Lip gloss is still hot for Spring 2009, but only to add shine. Glitter, sparkles, and heavy pigment is no longer in style for Spring.

As usual, the easiest way to ease into seasonal makeup changes is by adding only one or two trendy makeup pieces. Add a soft pastel shadow to the grey colors of Fall 2008 to transition into the lighter eyeshadow colors of Spring. Create a more subtle and translucent makeup base by turning foundation into a tinted moisturizer. These are two easy ways to update a makeup collection for the new season.
